Bill Simpson had many loves of his life: his church, its prayer ministry, and his career in higher education. But the love for which he will be remembered most is his love of missions. That's why, at his death in 1992, his family chose to establish the Bill Simpson Memorial Mission Fund with the Georgia Baptist Foundation.

The Simpson family established the fund shortly after Bill's death. It was partly funded with gifts to a memorial fund at First Baptist Church of Milledgeville where he directed the prayer ministry, and with a tithe of the proceeds from his insurance policies. An additional amount is added each year, and at Sue's death a tithe of her estate will also be donated to the fund.

SUE: I wanted responsible stewardship and that's what I've received from the Georgia Baptist Foundation. They are professional money managers who have just as strong a commitment to the Lord's work as Bill and I always had. The Foundation is audited annually and because of that I know that I can rest assured that the fund will be there until Jesus comes.

Each year the interest from the fund is divided between three of Bill's favorite charities - 40% for Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 40% for Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and 20% for state missions through the Georgia Baptist Convention.

SUE: I've been very pleased with the return on the principal, and the Foundation is doing an excellent job of managing the fund. They didn't insist on our doing anything their way, but offered us a variety of options to meet our desires.
